Helen J. Seely, 84, of Wesbury Nursing Home, 31 Park Ave., Meadville, died at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Wesbury Nursing Home. Born Nov. 18, 1924, in Meadville, she was a daughter of Leon and Hazel Thompson Cotterman. Mrs. Seely worked as a meat wrapper for Quaker Food Market and as a cafeteria worker for the Valley Grove School District. She was a member of the Canal Wesleyan Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Seely was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved children and taught Sunday school for more than 30 years. She was married Aug. 7, 1943, to Daniel E. (Jay) Seely Jr., who preceded her in death. Surviving are three children, Daniel Wayne Seely and wife, Janice, of Meadville, Shirley Jean Richards and husband, Edward, of Franklin, and Diane Elaine Seely of Salem, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Julie Dombroski and husband, John, of Pittsburgh, Randall Richards and wife, Laura, of New Castle, Jason Daniel Seely and wife, Cherilyn, of Meadville, and Kurtis Bradley Seely, of Meadville. Survivors also include four great-grandchildren, Tyler Andrew Richards of Franklin, Austin Bradley Seely of Meadville, Kristen Nicole Seely of Meadville, and Logan Drew Seely of Meadville; and two sisters and their husbands, Martha and Elliott Pritts of Hillsboro, W.Va., and Mary Lou and Robert Nageotte of Saegertown. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Merle Cotterman; and a sister, Shirley Phelps. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Canal Wesleyan Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Domenick Pietro, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be at Peters Cemetery.
