Helen E. Bean, 86, of 1081 Congress Hill Road, Franklin died at 4:43 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at UPMC Northwest. Mrs. Bean was the last surviving member of her immediate family and went to be with her Lord on the day she passed away. Born Oct. 19, 1921, in Hendersonville, she was a daughter of Gilbert I. and Jessie M. Perrine Dick. She was married to Robert I. Bean, and he preceded her in death. She was a retired bookkeeper and worked at General Manifold for four years and Franklin Service & Supply for eight years. Mrs. Bean was a member of Worden Chapel at Franklin and the North Tucson Baptist Church. She was treasurer of the Worden Chapel for seven years and was secretary and treasurer of the North Tucson Joy Sunday School Class for four years. She was listed in "Who's Who in Poetry" and was in the "Clover Collection of Verse." Her poems also were published in church and school papers. Surviving are four children, Kenneth Bean and his wife, Donna, of Franklin, Larry H. Bean and his wife, Betty, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Sandra L. Keener and her husband, Jimmie, of Franklin and Cheryl Bean of Mercer; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Robert Bean Jr.; a sister, Mildred E. Dick; three brothers, Merle Dick, Kenneth Dick and Wilford Dick; and a granddaughter, Debra Sue Keener. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. The Rev. David Smith, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene in Franklin, will officiate.
