Harry A. Mason, 92, of 12302 Dawn Drive, Meadville, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Rosalind and Donald Staskiewicz, in Meadville.He was born near Espyville on March 18, 1917, a son of Frank B. and Hazel Thompson Mason. He married Inis C. Leri of Townville on Nov. 10, 1940. They resided in Townville for 45 years. She preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 2000.He was a 1934 graduate of Andover High School. He retired as a machinist with Talon Inc. after 40 years.In the summertime, he loved to go to his camp on the Allegheny River, where he enjoyed fishing. He loved his family, especially his two great-grandchildren who called him Super Grandpa. He was active in various community affairs when he resided in Townville. He was a life member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219, where he served as secretary and later as a trustee. He was a founding member of the Townville Lions Club and a past secretary of the Townville School Board. He was active in Townville Volunteer Fire Department and Townville Old Home Days.He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Church, Meadville.Survivors include his daughter, Rosalind Staskiewicz and her husband, Donald, of Meadville; a son, Gene Mason and his wife, Gay, of Meadville; four grandchildren, Sean Staskiewicz and his wife, Carolyn, of Dublin, Ohio, Brett Staskiewicz of Meadville, Steven Mason and his wife, Nancy, of Letitz, and Melissa Stewart and her husband, Scott, of Ambridge; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Stewart and Shelly Stewart, both of Ambridge; a brother, Frank Mason and his wife, Jane, of Andover, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Neal Mason; and a sister, Arda Nojonen.Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, with an Elks service at 8:30 p.m.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Grace Church, with Father William Karg as celebrant.Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.The family requests memorials be made to St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
