Harriet M Heckard, 80, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away March 28, 2013 at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH. Born December 21, 1932 in New Castle, PA she was the daughter of the late John D. and Anna Houston Glenn. On May 9, 1953 she was married to Robert Heckard who passed away on December 8, 2012. Mrs. Heckard lived in Willoughby, OH from 1957 1986 and then lived in Elon, NC from 1986 to 2012. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Lake Erie College in Painesville, OH in 1976. She worked as an accountant for the law firm of Gallagher, Sharp, Fulton Norman in downtown Cleveland before moving to Elon, NC where she worked for SouthEastern Chemical Corp until she retired in 1998. While living in Willoughby she was a member of the Willoughby Eastern Star. Harriet is survived by two daughters; Deborah Koeth husband Richard of Mentor, OH and Carol Hood husband Richard of Twinsburg, OH. She is additionally survived by five grandchildren; Richard Koeth and wife Denise of Fairlawn, OH, Robert Koeth and wife Kim of Bratenahl, OH, Amanda Lynam and husband Garrett of New York, NY, Chelsey and Kendric Hood both of Twinsburg, OH a great-grandson; Alden Scott Koeth, sisters; Margaret Bean and husband Dallas of Franklin, Mary Lou Brown of New Castle, and Suzie Ealy and husband Harold of Sharpsville, PA. Harriet was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Currie and brother, John Glenn. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin with Rev. David Janz, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 East 185th Street, Cleveland, OH, 44119. My sincere sympathy to all the family. I remember Harriet from my youth. She and my mother, Jean Jolley Blandin, were good friends. I remember her as very attractive and outgoing, with a nice laugh. To lose your mother so soon after your father must be difficult. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
