We are saddened to announce that Geraldine L. Middleton, 88, of Union City, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Corry Manor. Geraldine was born on November 12, 1936, to Beatrice Baney Carniewski and John Carniewski. She was united in marriage to Ralph L. Middleton on December 6, 1952, and sadly, he passed away on December 20, 1975.
Geraldine worked at various places throughout her life, including the Union City Boat Factory, Vikings, and Coin Laundry in Erie. She also cleaned houses for Norm Troyer. A devoted member of the Union City Church of the Nazarene, she found joy in reading and solving puzzle books.
She is survived by her son, Robert Middleton and his wife Bonnie of Corry; daughters Deb Fralick and Donna Consla, both of Union City; and sons Ralph Middleton and his wife Gale of Union City, and Denis Middleton of Union City. Geraldine also leaves behind brothers Lewis Carniewski of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Julis Carniewski of Union City, as well as sister Patty Kimmy of Union City. Her legacy includes eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Don Middleton; two brothers, John and James Carniewski; three sisters, Florence McWilliams, Mary Odom, and Rose Swann; as well as a son-in-law, Floyd Fralick, a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Middleton, and two grandchildren, Serenity Weed and Jonathan Middleton.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, January 11th, beginning with calling hours from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Union City Church of the Nazarene, located at 119 S. Main Street in Union City. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM, with Pastor George Tutor officiating. Geraldine will be laid to rest at West Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Geraldine’s memory to a charity of your choice. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
