Gerald “Jerry” Lee Mercer, 64, of Union City, passed away, Thursday, August 11, 2022, at UPMC Hamot. He was born December 30, 1957 a son of William W. and Alinda L. Bailey Mercer. He married Terri L. Bretherton on December 17, 2006, she survives.
He graduated from Corry High School, Class of 1977. Jerry worked as a mechanic for E. D. Farrell, Equip Co., and Mercer’s Bus Transportation.
Jerry was a member of the Waterford American Legion, Union City VFW, Union City Moose Club, and American Legion Riders.
He enjoyed working on anything mechanical, riding his motorcycle, camping, volunteering at the Leukemia Society, and shooting at the shooting range.
In addition to his loving wife, Terri, he is survived by two daughters, Duann Piotrowski and her husband Rich of Erie, and Codie Irwin and her companion Joe of Greenfield Township; a son Jeremy J. Mercer of Union City; a granddaughter Brynlee Irwin; two sisters, Laurie Swart and her husband Jim of Sugarcreek, Pennsylvania, and Debbie Woodworth and her husband Rob of Elgin; three brothers, Dan Mercer and his wife Bev of Elgin, Mike Mercer and his wife Tina of Erie, and John Mercer and his wife Lynette of Dunn, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a mother-in-law, Ruth Bretherton; and an aunt and uncle, Ray and Joan Knoph.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Jerry’s memory to an organization of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are in the care of Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62 S. Main Street, Union City.
