George Walter Ekis, age 79, of Franklin passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025 at The Caring Place with his wife by his side.

Born on July 20, 1945, in Butler, he was the son of the late Walter and Irene (Bellis) Ekis.

On August 20, 1966 he married the former Charlene Deal.

George was a member of the Atlantic Avenue Church.

He enjoyed being with his family, a good cigar and his dog, Bella.

Surviving is his wife, Charlene; two daughters, Kimberly A. Lyons and her husband, Joseph, of Franklin and Paula C. Johnson of Franklin; a son, Daniel W. Ekis and his wife, Ronda, of Sarasota, FL; his grandchildren Matthew Lyons and his wife, Jennifer, of Middleton, PA, Tyler Lyons of Kennerdell, Emerson Ekis and Ava Ekis of Sarasota, FL; his great-grandchildren Matthew and Marshall Lyons of Middleton, PA; and a sister, Patricia “Patty” Mortimor of The Villages, FL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Mary Rick and a great granddaughter, Madison Lyons.

A celebration of George’s Life will be held at the Atlantic Avenue Church, 160 Atlantic Avenue, Franklin, at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 24. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service. Associate Pastor Jason Peterson will officiate. Arrangements are under the care of the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 S. Main St, Seneca, PA 16346.
