I remember the days we went to work at Lord Corp. Good times, LaVant Johnson
It was just last week that I came across our class yearbook. As I went from face to face I was filled with great nostalgia. So many young, healthy kids filled with so many hopes and dreams. From reading Gary’s obit it sounds like he and Vera achieved those dreams. I send my thoughts and prayers to all their family and friends.

One of my favorite memories was when Gary took my brother, Ben, and I ice fishing. I still remember him telling me, “I’m going to hand you this pole…right after I pull this fish up.” The fish instantly took the bait that he had just dipped into the hole. It was the first time I remember having fish and I’ve loved it ever since.
When my sister was young, she was sick a lot. He sat with her so our mom could go to work. They would watch old Disney movies like Pollyanna.
He was one who lived out the Scripture, ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself.’
I’m a better man today from the life lessons he taught.
