G. Eugene Proper
May 16, 2024
G. Eugene "Jake" Proper, age 78, passed on May 16, 2024 with his family at his side.
Born April 1, 1946 in Titusville, he was the son of the late Gard Lavern Proper and Alice (Brown) Proper of Troy Center.
He married Wilma (Dunlap) Proper, who is the love of his life and the twinkle of his eye, on March 27, 1998.
Gene retired from Meadville Forge and was a "Jack of all trades". He was a partner with his wife of G & W Engraving. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, cooking and playing the Lottery. He was always ready to lend a hand to help out in whatever was needed. He could build or repair just about anything and loved making things for his family. He will be missed by all who loved him and remembered by all that knew him. He may live on in a lot of us, with the things he taught us all.
Left to cherish his memory along with his wife are his daughters Hazel Baron of Saegertown and Wendy Angelo of Venango; his step-sons Mark Deets of Edinboro, Christopher Deets, and Joshua Deets of Saegertown; his several grandchildren, Hayden Deets, David Deets, Tyler Corner (Briana) that he helped raise, Julie Wilkinson (Nate), Arthur Baron (Brittney), Donald Baron, Kristen Schlosser (Jeremy), Maria Biebel (Raymond), and Alyssa Stidham (Justin); and his great-grandchildren, Malakai Corner, Shawn and Nolan Wilkinson, and Raelynn, Briar, Madix, and Brenson Baron, Kinslee and Aubree Biebel, Angelo Stidham, and two due in November. He is further survived by his 8 siblings including Sherry Whitman (Chuck) of Titusville, Betty Botts of Norfolk, VA; and his many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Eugene (Genie) Proper, his 3 sisters, a brother, and a son-in-law.
No public services will be observed at this time and arrangements are under the care of the Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 33353 N. Main Street, Townville.
Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank the hospice and visiting nurses for the wonderful care they provided to Jake and the family.

You were my brother, my friend and the world to me. You were always there for me, you had the biggest heart of anyone I know. Always there to help and share your vast knowledge with everyone. You were a jack of all trades and my children and grandchildren knew if you couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be done. Thank you for teaching them, because in them you will live on. I will miss you every day, until we meet again. I love you.
I can still remember being little and you taking us for the weekend to go fishing. Teaching us how to play pool. My children and grandchildren were blessed to have you in their lives. Your caring nature and love of family will never be forgotten. We will love you always, UJ. Until we see you again.
Wilma and family, I’m so very sorry to read of Gene’s passing. I didn’t know Gene as well as I know you, but it was obvious that the two of you were very happy together. I’m sure he’ll be greatly missed.
