FORT MYERS, Fla. " Franklin B. Campbell, 88, of 100 Fourth St., Fort Myers, Fla., since 1985, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Hope Hospice Health Park, Fort Myers. He had resided in Fort Myers since 1985.
Born in Meadville on July 1, 1922, he was a son of Frank Bernard and Genevieve Elizabeth Carl Campbell. He married Marceline Demason on Dec. 10, 1941; she preceded him in death Sept. 7, 1993.
He graduated from Meadville High School. He was a locomotive engineer from Nov. 1, 1941, to February 1982 and was also a fireman.
He loved restoring older cars.
He was a life member of the Meadville Club and Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Department. He was involved in Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, American Association of Retired Persons and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Campbell of Sebastian, Fla., and Fred Campbell and his wife, Buffy, of Meadville; two daughters, Joyce Turrin and her husband, Jerry, of Fort Myers, and Diana Devore and her husband, Brett, of Meadville; a brother, John Campbell of Meadville; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a daughter, Cheryl Armstrong.
There are no calling hours.
The funeral will be private.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.
Arrangements are being handled by Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.
