Frances M. Colwell, 89, of 10935 Livermore Road, Meadville, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Meadville Medical Center.
Born in Reynoldsville on Feb. 15, 1921, she was a daughter of Carl and Nora Secrest Rydbom. She married Charles W. Colwell on Nov. 3, 1939; he preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
She enjoyed bowling, playing golf and solving puzzles, especially crypotoquote puzzles. Her nickname was Smiley. She loved watching the Cleveland Browns and Indians. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a great friend to many
She was affiliated with St. Agatha Church and was a member of its Altar Rosary Society.
She was a member of the Eat and Travel Club.
Survivors include six children, Colette Sosnick of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Charles W. Colwell III and his wife, Carol, of Munising, Mich., Brad Colwell and his wife, Donna, of Harrisburg, Patricia Schutz and her husband, Paul E., of Meadville, and Daniel Colwell and his fianc�e, Mary, of Meadville; 11 grandchildren, Aaron Sosnick, Tamara Orr, Natalie Herbert, Elizabeth Kartes, Jennifer Collins, Kimberly Gore, Rene Romberger, Scott Colwell, Melissa Schrader, Brian Schutz and Lisa Schutz; 19 great-grandchildren, Crawford, Cameron (CJ), Samantha, Weston, Landon, Ashlyn, Riley, Sarah, Sean, Gabe, Jake, Rachel, Samantha Jean, Luke, Cassie, Ashley, Alexis, Austin and Andrew; a sister, Wilma Garvey of Seneca; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Rydbom of Meadville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five sisters; and a brother.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, with a prayer vigil service at 7:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Father Raymond Gramata of St. Agatha Church as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.
