Born in: Murrinsville, Pennsylvania
Resided in: Franklin, Pennsylvania

Frances Erla Ferringer, 100, of Franklin passed away on May 11, 2025, after a brief illness, with her daughter at her side.

Born on November 14, 1924 in Murrinsville, PA she was the daughter of the late John and Irene A. (Bell) Craig and proud to be a coal miner’s daughter.

Frances was a 1944 graduate of Grove City High School.

On November 12, 1948, she married Robert Leroy Ferringer, the love of her life. He passed away on March 9, 1986. Together, they worked hard on raising their 5 wonderful children.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and enjoyed reading and later enjoyed audio books. She loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy when Alex Tribek was the host. She was always going on bus trips with her friends, Katie Malory and Harold Jones. If you wanted to make her happy, bring her sweet treats, especially if it was chocolate.

Her biggest joy was her family. She loved being around them and going to family reunions, picnics, and all the get-togethers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ronald L. Ferringer and his wife, Marilyn, of Fairview, Richard A. Ferringer and his wife, Carol, of Cambridge Springs, Dennis L. Ferringer of Franklin, and Debra Wheeler of Cooperstown; her grandchildren Kami Esterline and her husband, Paul, of North Carolina, Dennis L. Cummings, Jr. and his wife, Lucy, of Somerset, Stephanie M. Wheeler and her husband, Josh Thurber, of Allison Park, Julia L. Froehlich and her husband, Butch, of Erie, Matthew Allen Ferringer and his wife, Aretha, of Erie, Bradley Ferringer and his wife, Amanda, of Newport, Michael L. Ferringer of Grove City, Jacob Mason and his wife, Celine, of Seneca and Kasi N. Ferringer of Seneca; her great grandchildren Abbie, Ellie, Chelsie, Aaron, Bella, Jordyn, Conner, Austin, Isabella, Kailyn, Ethan, Mara, and Tobias; her brothers Alfred “Lanny” Craig and his wife, Vera, of Grove City and Leslie “Ike” Craig and his wife, Joyce, of New Castle; her “adopted son” Bill Lamont of Erie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was preceded in death by her son Thomas Ferringer, her sister Lizzie Gladd; and her brothers Robert, William and Donald Craig; and her son-in-law Ron Wheeler
