Ewell Kester Scott
Ewell Kester Scott, 81, of 14895 Williams Road, Meadville, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center, Transitional Care Unit.
He was born on April 9, 1928, in Hillsboro, W.Va., the son of the late Homer and Minnie McCoy Scott. He married Elizabeth Gamble; she preceded him in death on March 13, 1976. He then married Delores Norr; she survives.
He had been employed at Ohio Rubber Co., Meadville Malleable, Conrail Railroad and at Kightlinger Electric. He also had done farming.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.
He loved fishing, helping people, teaching people how to tie flies for fishing, playing the guitar and banjo, as well as singing. He loved the Lord.
Surviving are his wife, Delores Norr of Meadville; five children, Rebecca Hargenrater and her husband, Herman, of Conneaut Lake, Joy Lynn Scott of Meadville, Jeffrey E. Scott and his wife, Susan, of Polk, Marybeth Roberts and her husband, Mark, of Conneaut Lake, and James I. Scott and his wife, Shannon, of Conneautville; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Scott and his wife, Joan, of Conneaut Lake. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from noon until 1:30 p.m. at The Altar, 660 Terrace St., in Penn Plaza, Meadville.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at The Altar, with Pastor Dennis See officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township.
