Eva Montgomery Eva Montgomery, 86, a resident of The Caring Place for the past 4 ? years (and of 1171 Rocky Grove Avenue, Franklin), passed away at 5:31 p.m., Monday, August 9, 2010 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born April 2, 1924, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Ella Boyles McCool. Mrs. Montgomery was married on November 6, 1943 in the Townville United Methodist Church, to Ernest R. Montgomery and he preceded her in death December 22, 1993. Mrs. Montgomery was a homemaker. She was a member of The Galloway United Methodist Church, where she was very active and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Franklin Eastern Star and was Treasurer of the Venango County Beekeeper's Association ,and assisted her husband in his beekeeping and honey business. She traveled with her husband to National Beekeeper's Meetings around the nation. She loved her family and her home was always open to all her family for Sunday Dinner. Mrs. Montgomery was an excellent cook and was well known to everyone for her pie baking, especially for her cream pies with meringue. Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her son, Rankin Montgomery and his wife, Robin, of Franklin; and her two daughters, Alfreda Kurtich and her husband, John, and Judy Shingledecker and her husband, Richard, all of Franklin. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shawn Shingledecker and his wife, Stacey, of Franklin, Deanna Kelly and her husband, Todd of York, PA, Brian Kurtich and his wife, Tricia, of Santo Domingo, Ecuador, Joshua Montgomery and his wife, Tiffany, of Seneca, Rachael Montgomery of Houston Texas, Caitlyn Montgomery and her finance, Joel Niemie, of Franklin, and Josiah Montgomeryof Franklin; and her 12 great-grandchildren, Shane and Skylar Shingledecker of Franklin, Cain Kurtich of Franklin, Shana and Tristen Kurtich of Ecuador, Jackson and Jemma and Juliet Kelly of York, PA, Jordan and Hunter Montgomery of Seneca, Levi Hartman of Houston, Texas and Sofia Niemie of Franklin. Additionally, Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her brothers, Bud McCool and his wife, Priscilla, and Clarence McCool, all of Cooperstown, and George McCool of Harborcreek, PA; and her sisters, Betty Noel of Cooperstown, and Mary Sweitzer and Violet Shingledecker, both of Franklin. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Dawn Shingledecker; her great-granddaughter, Lindsey Shingledecker; her two brothers, Ivan McCool and Warren McCool; her sister, Elsie Moskey and an infant sister, Ella McCool. Friends may call at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and also from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, at The Galloway United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. at The Galloway United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 12, 2010 with Dr. John W. Seth, pastor of the church, and Linda Deeter, Chaplain of The Caring Place, presiding. Interment will follow at Graham Cemetery.
