Ellsworth W. Baker, 90, of 218 Pacific St., Franklin, died at 11:53 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2008, at UPMC Northwest. Born May 23, 1918, in Franklin (Uniontown Hill), he was the son of Louis Baker and Nora Matthews. He was a machinist at CPT for 37 1/2 years, retiring in 1978. Mr. Baker was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklin. Mr. Baker enjoyed golfing, hunting, bowling and all sports. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was married Jan. 17, 1942, to Lawanda Simpson, and she survives. He is also survived by three children, Gary Baker of Franklin, Dennis Baker and his wife, Theresa, of St. Augustine and Connie Miller and her husband, Ronald, of Wesley; seven grandchildren, Shelly LeSuer and husband, Kyle, Edinboro, Kevin Miller and wife, Cecilia, of Kennesaw, Ga., Nicole Pritchard and husband, Michael, of Patton, Brandy Kline and husband, Brian, of St. Augustine, Curt Baker of Franklin, Daniel Baker of King's Bay, Ga. and Liberty Hutchinson of Oil City; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Larsen of Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Merle Baker and an infant brother; and a sister, Charlotte Smith. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James G. Bennett of First Baptist Church of Franklin officiating. Just in case you don’t remember me; I am Ruth Ann Bach’s son, she was married to Bill Winters Sr. Michelle is my wife. I am sorry I won’t be there in person, but my wife and daughter Samantha will be to pay their respects.
