On Thursday, May 28, 2026, Elaine Stabler, 89, left the struggles of this world and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is now “Forever Free.” Elaine was born on December 6, 1936, to Howard and Hazel Banker and grew up in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1954 and attended Barrington College (now Gordon College) in Barrington, Rhode Island for a year.
On May 11, 1968, she married Rev. J. Elliott Stabler. They served together in several pastorates in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In 2016, Elaine made her home at the Wesbury Retirement Community in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Elliott joined her the next year, and the two were together until Elliott preceded her in death on December 20, 2024. They celebrated 56 years of faithful marriage together.
Mrs. Stabler was a homemaker and served along side and supported her husband at the various churches where he pastored. Elaine attended church faithfully and was blessed by Pastor Sam’s chapel services at Wesbury.
Over the years she enjoyed singing, playing piano, painting, doing puzzles, writing letters, sending cards, reading books by Christian authors, and visiting with friends. Of all her books, she loved reading her Bible and especially Psalms and Proverbs. She was proud of her daughter’s published book-and read it twice in the last eight months. The blessing of her heart was seeing her family-especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Glen) Van Cise; three grandchildren: Jonathan (Kyra) Van Cise, Jay (Maria) Van Cise, and Julia (Taylor) Coblentz; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and penpal Barbara Royea and a sister-in-law Faye Banker, as well as nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind the personal care team at Grace Rehabilitation Center-she dearly loved you all.
In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by Janet Banker (sister-in-law), Richard Banker (brother), Dale Stabler (brother-in-law), and Betty Stabler (sister-in-law).
A Celebration of Life will be conducted by Pastor Sam Marchetta on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. at the Barco Chapel, Wesbury Retirement Community, 31 Park Avenue, Meadville, Pennsylvania 16335. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Wesbury Foundation’s Benevolent Care Fund, 31 Park Avenue, Meadville, Pennsylvania 16335.
Arrangements are in the care of Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 33353 North Main Street, Townville. PA. Please take a moment to share a memory or condolence with the family on Elaine’s Book of Memories online at www.WarrenFH.com.

Beth, you and your family have my deepest condolences on the passing of your Mom. She was a gentle, quiet lady when I knew her when your Dad was Pastor at First Baptist in Titusville, many years ago. I know you now have guardian angels- both your Mom and Dad to watch over you and your family. May the precious Lord help you through this sad time.
