Edward J. Freer
November 21, 1946 ~ June 13, 2024
Edward James Freer, 77, of Polk passed away on June 13, 2024 at the Oakwood Heights Village with his family at his side, where he received loving and excellent care from all nursing and staff.
Born on November 21, 1946 in Franklin, he was the son of the late James Edward and Maxine Louise (Titus) Freer.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School. He married the love of his life, Josephine Ann “JoAnn” Gahr on September 21, 1969 and she survives.
Ed was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a draftsman at Conair for many years.
Not only did Ed design and build his own home, he helped build or fix up his children’s homes. He was a great handyman and could fix just about anything. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars and perfecting his yard. His grandchildren were the light of his life of which he enjoyed spoiling and teaching them all the bad habits that good grandparents do. He loved taking them for walks in the woods and swimming in the pool.
Left to cherish his memory along with his wife are his children, Daniel Freer and his wife, Erin, of Cochranton, Dennis Freer and his wife, Michelle, of Polk, Douglas Freer and his wife, Beth, of Polk, Christine Allen and her husband, William Vincent, of Maryland, Catherine O’Haver and her husband, Patrick, of Georgia, and Carrie Warcholic and her husband, Matt, of Oil City; his grandchildren, Cody and Dylan Allen of Maryland, Jacob and Gabrielle O’Haver of Georgia, Levi and Anthony Freer of Cochranton, Derek, Lane, Grace, and Hannah Freer of Polk, and Frankie and Benjamin Kee of Oil City. He is further survived by his sister Sue Bavas of Meadville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Edward James Kee; his brother, Jack Freer; and his brother-in-law, James Bavas.
Family and friends are invited to the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with the funeral service being held immediately following on Saturday at the funeral home with Deacon Richard O’Polka, St. Patrick Catholic Church of Franklin, officiating.
Ed will be laid to rest at Lamey Cemetery.
