Duane Lynn Jones Duane Lynn Jones, 52, of 233 Cherrytree Road, Franklin, died unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, November 7, 2010. Born April 4, 1958 in Mount Clemens, Michigan, Duane was the son of Donald and Donna Irwin Jones. Duane was a 1977 graduate of Rocky Grove High School, where he was an exceptional member of the school's wrestling team. He was a member of Galloway United Methodist Church, and helped with Angel Food Ministries at the church. He also helped organize relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Hugo. Duane's passion was softball. He had played modified softball for B & L Insulation; was a manager and former Board Member, and also served as Vice President of Franklin Little League Girl's Softball, which was sponsored by Venango Machine Products, where he was a co-owner. He was a member of LOTSA (Lake Ontario Trout & Salmon Assoc.); and enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and friends. Duane was married on May 1, 1982 to the former Carol McKay, who survives. In addition to his wife, Duane is survived by his parents, Donald and Donna Jones of Franklin; his two daughters (who were his pride and joy), Cayla Jones, a college student at the University of Pittsburgh, and Carli Jones, a student at Slippery Rock University; his three brothers, Dan Jones and his wife, Cookie, of Anderson, South Carolina, Dale Jones and his wife, Sonya, of Franklin, and Donald Jones and his wife, Annette, of Franklin; and his sister, Debby Irwin, and her husband, Alvin Jr., also of Franklin. Duane is also survived by his Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Robert and Ruth McKay of New Bethlehem ; his sister-in-law, Cindy Harrison and her husband, Warren, of Westminster, Maryland; his best friends, Chris and Missy Garich, of Franklin and his pet schnauzer, Bandi. He is also survived by his numerous "surrogate daughters", whom he coached over the years. Additionally, Duane is survived by many special nieces and nephews, Danielle Little and her husband, Billy, of Anderson, South Carolina, Matthew Jones and his wife, Nicole, of Cleveland, Ohio, Dale R. Jones and his wife, Amy, of Franklin, Jason A. Jones and his wife, Heather, of Utica, Alvin Irwin III of Concord, North Carolina, Cole Irwin, Nicole Jones and Cortney Jones, all of Franklin, and Sarah Ryan and her husband, Dave, of Maryland; and his extra special great-nieces and nephews, Ansley and Caelyn Little of Anderson, South Carolina, Dawson and Conner Jones of Franklin, Drew Jones and Lindsey Burchfield of Utica, Austin Sanford, Brionna Jones, Jordan Jones, and Landon Jones, all of Franklin, and Kaylee and Allison Ryan of Maryland. Duane was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Melvin (Pick) and Florence Irwin; his Paternal Grandparents, Harold and Hazel Jones; his step-grandmother, Audrey Jones; his nephew, Dan Harrison; and his special fishing companion, Dave Guth. Friends and Family of Duane will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 4 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services for Duane will be held on Wednesday, November 10 at 11 a.m. at the Galloway United Methodist Church, with Dr. John W. Seth, pastor of the Church, officiating.
