Doris A. Schmitt, 82, of Atlantic, passed away, Sunday, February 5, 2023, unexpectedly at her residence. She was born on December 18, 1940 in Geneva, Pennsylvania a daughter of Joseph Anthony and Myrtle Peterson Anthony. She married John K. Schmitt, Sr. on August 15, 1964, he preceded her in death on October 3, 1999 after 35 years of marriage. Doris enjoyed traveling, her flower gardens, cooking, exploring, remembering the Native American culture, and feeding songbirds. You could always find her listening to her country and gospel music or reading her book of Revelation and she referred to it as our basic instruction before leaving this earth. Her favorite statement of the Bible was "means what it says and that's why it's written down." She is survived by four children, Scott D. Schmitt and his wife Tracey L. (Durand) of Hartstown, Tammy A. Schmitt of Atlantic, John K. Schmitt, Jr. and his wife Lynn of Saegertown, and Bea Estok and her husband Bob of Edinboro; two grandsons, Ryan S. Schmitt and his wife Karissa of Fort Carson, Colorado Springs and Evan G. Schmitt and his wife Casee of Jamestown; great grandchildren, Willow, Aiden, Carter, Claire, and Kaleb; and a brother, Bruce Dygert and his wife Marjorie of Conneaut Lake. In addition to her husband; she was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Frannie Reese, Joseph, Jr., Claire, Marlin, and Gene Anthony, Verda Lasher, Wayne See, and Daryl Hawk. Family and friends are welcome to call on Wednesday, February 8th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. A memorial service will follow at 2:00pm. Burial will take place next to her husband at Huber Cemetery, Cochranton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doris' memory to Atlantic Community Church, 3468 Atlantic Lake Road, Atlantic, Pennsylvania 16111, or Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, Pennsylvania 16335.
