Donna V. Showers, 63, of 267 Maple Lane Drive, Cooperstown, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Saint Vincent Health Center of Erie. Born Jan. 3, 1946, in Clarion, she was the daughter of Harry and Grace Sloat Varner. Donna was a 1963 graduate of Franklin High School. She was married May 25, 1974, to James G. Showers, who survives. She was a human resource administrator for Joy Manufacturing and general manager for Showers' Pools and Spas for more than 25 years. Donna was a member of Cooperstown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and "granddogs." She had an active social life with her friends and enjoyed traveling and driving her red Corvette. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Tracy Connors and her husband, Gary, of Erie and Jamie Carner and her husband, Brayton, of Cranberry Township; three grandchildren, Mitchell, Christopher and Leah Connors, all of Erie; a sister, Linda Rarer and her husband, Garry, of Cooperstown; and a brother-in-law, Robert M. Showers and his wife, Grace, of Titusville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Varner. Services for Donna are private and will be held at the convenience of the family by the Rev. James Gascoine of Dutilh United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Cooperstown Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Venango County Humane Society. Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. of Franklin is handling the funeral arrangements.
