Donald Eugene O'Neil

Donald Eugene O’Neil, age 78, of Franklin, died Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Oakwood Heights
Nursing Facility in Oil City.

A son of Virgil E. and Grace Marie Kilgore O’Neil, he was born May 29, 1946 in Franklin, PA.
He was a 1966 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

On July 8, 1967 Donald married the former Janice Wagner, who survives.

Mr. O’Neil was a veteran of the Airforce and had served in the Vietnam era and in the Army Reserves
during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

He had been employed by Cooper-Bessemer previously and had most recently worked as a bus driver for CATA.

Donald was a life-time member of the VFW Post #1835. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending
time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Janice O’Neil of Franklin; two sons, Duane E. O’Neil and wife Jerry Lee of
Franklin, Jerald L. O’Neil and wife MaryAnn of Missouri; two daughters, Mary McSorley and husband
Michael of Philadelphia, Anna M. O’Neil of Franklin; a brother, Earl “Pete” O’Neil of Cochranton; a
sister, Barbara Anderton of Franklin; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Albert and James O’Neil, and a sister, Peg
Lambert.

Friends will be received from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday at the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home,
1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Pastor Darrell Greenawalt of Franklin Christ United Methodist Church will officiate. Military Honors
will be accorded by the VETS Honor Guard. Interment will be made in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Franklin Moose Lodge, Franklin Christ United Methodist
Church or the VETS Honor Guard.
