Donald D. Spencer, 61, a resident of 103 North 13th St., Franklin, died at 3:28 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at UPMC Northwest Medical Center. Born Dec. 5, 1947, he was a son of Donald A. Spencer and Elizabeth F. Smith. Mr. Spencer was a member of the U.S. Army, where he served as a military policeman during the Vietnam War. He worked as an RSA for Polk Center and was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. Mr. Spencer enjoyed watching sports. He is survived by his father, Donald A. Spencer of Franklin; a daughter, Sabrina Maxwell of Oil City; a brother, David S. Spencer and wife, Karen, of Milan, Ohio; and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth F. Smith; a sister, Carolyn (Lynn) J. Spencer; and a son, Scott Spencer. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Deeter, pastor at The Caring Place in Franklin, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
