Donald C. McGinnis Donald C. McGinnis, 80, of Reno, Pa, passed away at 8:37 a.m. at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Born May 13, 1930 in Reno, Donald was the son of the late Roy and Cleo Burns McGinnis. He was married May 30, 1957 to the former Barbara Shirey, and she survives. Donald worked at Wolf's Head Oil as an oil blender for more than 40 years before his retirement in 1994. He was a Korean War Era Veteran having served with the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Donald was assigned to the 71st Fighter-Interceptor Squadron and received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Donald was a member of Moose Lodge #83. He was named Citizen of the Year in Reno. He was a very active member of the Reno Fire Department, and was instrumental in setting up the Reno Fire Department booth at the Venango County 4-H Fair. He also helped with many dinners at the Social Hall. Donald enjoyed hunting and traveling, and especially the times he spent with his family and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his son, Donald C. McGinnis, Jr., and his wife, Diane, of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; his three grandchildren, Keith Harper and his wife, Denise, of Reno; and Britney McGinnis and Caitlin McGinnis, of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; and his great-grandchild, Dreux Harper, of Reno. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara (Bobbi) Harper; and his sisters, Doris Hahn, Donalda Britt (his twin sister), and Mary Margaret Irwin. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Thursday, May 5 from 12 (Noon) to 4 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5 at 4 p.m., with Pastor Preston Monterrey, of the Seneca Seventh-Day Adventist Church, officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will be in Reno Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Reno Fire Department, 10 4th Street, Reno, PA 16343 and/or Sugar Creek Station, 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin PA 16323.
