It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis Michael “Mike” Glass, 73, of Union City, who left us on Friday, July 17th, surrounded by his loving family at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Mike was born on June 26, 1953, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, to Clarence and Mary Ruth Nipper Glass.
He graduated from Union City High School in 1973 and continued his education at the Erie County Vocational School for Advanced Math. Mike dedicated many years to his profession as a machinist at Corry Manufacturing, and he also worked as a well tender for Tetra and as a self-employed auto mechanic. His true passion lay in fixing things and helping others.
Mike was a valued member of the Union City Christian and Missionary Alliance and the Union City Moose Club. He enjoyed the great outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, but his heart always belonged to mechanics. He was affectionately known as MacGyver, as he could always fix anything and everything.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Glass; daughter Angela Wadding (Paul) and her family, including grandchildren Chelsey Hill (Josh), McKenna Wadding (Tanner), Garrett Wadding, and great-grandchildren Kolt, Walker, Kemper, Warren, and Oliver; son Dennis “Denny” M. Glass, Jr. (Mindy) with grandchildren Destiny Stucke (Dave), Kyle Glass, and great-grandchildren Blakely and Carson; daughter Michele Barnes (Roy) with grandchildren Kaylee Thomas (Ryan), Dallas Shontz, Brady Shontz, and great-grandchildren Lilyana, Kian, and a baby girl on the way; a son Adam Lopeno (Kalie) of Harborcreek; his sisters Patty Fralick of New York and Diane Swarm of Ohio; brothers Clarence “Butch” Glass (Lillian) of Corry and Dan Glass (Debbie) of Union City; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in law Dean Fralick, and his brother Richard “Rick” Glass.
