David B. Harvey

david harvey

September 6, 1951 ~ January 3, 2024

Born in: Meadville, Pennsylvania

David “Harv” Harvey passed away unexpectedly, of natural causes, at home, Wednesday, January 3, 2024. David was born in Meadville on September 6,1951 to Doris (Stein) and Jack Harvey. David was retired from working for the City of Meadville, where he was known, to whenever possible, apply his creative talents, on street signs and more. Harv was way ahead of the “tattoo curve”. Through as many means as possible, including tattoos, he displayed his love for art. David’s creative works are as one of a kind as was he. David is survived by his mother, Doris Harvey, his sister, Suzanne Weathers (Mark), niece and nephew, Auryanna and Dakota Walters, and great nephews, Luke and Alex Burgess, and Ben Ohmer. Those who knew David recognized underneath his unique persona existed a kind, intelligent soul who spent his final years caring for his mother, whom he loved dearly. Oh, and let's not forget his cats! And the books, an avid reader he left behind a very eclectic library which shall be donated to local libraries with David’s hope to inspire other readers and artists alike. Rest in peace, Harv! Arrangements are in the care of Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. Please take a moment to share a memory or condolences with the family on David's Book of Memories online at www.WarrenFH.com.

  1. I work along Harv for many years. He was an amazing and very creative person. He was funny and generous and passionate about his work. I was proud to call him my friend. Signed Harold Miller

  2. Dave was a member of Meadville Area Senior High Class of 71 (MASH71), and shared his skills in Art club and Key club. The Class of 71 expresses our condolences to Dave’s family and our prayers to Dave now that he has relocated to heaven. Your classmates will miss you in this life but we know you will use your creative skills, your passion about work, to make heaven even better and if we are blessed we will see you again if we also relocate to heaven. Rest in peace Dave.

  3. Harv was the best friend anyone could have asked for. We shared so many interests and traveled far and wide to find the perfect bookstore. I wouldn’t have known much about anime and manga, if not for him. He could talk knowledgeably about everything from H.P. Lovecraft to planting decorative grasses, from medieval arms and armor to classic films. He was always ready to try new experiences, especially if they involved art and literature. My heart goes out to his family. He will be sorely missed.
