David Allen Gillingham

David Allen Gillingham, 69, of Union City, passed away, Sunday, July 7, 2024 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on March 30, 1955 in Erie, a son of Edward Paul Gillingham, Sr. and Louise May Wood. He married Shelley L. Bertch on July 18, 2009. He was a 1973 graduate of Fort Leboeuf High School and following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served his country for 20 years. When returning home from the service he began working for the U.S. Postal service where he retired from after 25 years. David was of the Baptist faith and he enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading the newspaper, hitting golf balls at the driving range, camping, time with his family, and he was never afraid to try new things. He is survived by his wife, Shelley L. Gillingham of Union City; two sons, Nicholas M. Kueczynski and his fiancé Stacey L. Hayes of Union City and Tristan V. Bertch of Rochester, New York; a grandson, Aidan Schuman; two sisters, Nancy L. Smith and her husband William of Erie and Linda C. Ramsdell and her husband Randy of Union City; three brothers, Edward P. Gillingham, Jr., of Arizona, Theodore L. Gillingham and his wife Mattie of Waterford, and Arthur J. Gillingham of Union City; and many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bruce O. Gillingham. There will be no services held at this time.
