It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Darin J. Burwell, who left us on January 18, 2026, at the age of 40. Born on July 17, 1985, in Union City, PA, Darin was a lifelong resident of the area, where he graduated from Fort LeBouef High School in 2003.
Darin worked hard as a supervisor at Shearer’s Snack Foods, where his dedication and leadership made a lasting impact on his colleagues. Those who knew him best will remember him as an avid fan of Sci-Fi films, a passionate reader, and a true animal lover.
He is survived by his beloved companion, Julia Hubbell of Union City; his mother, Donna L. Bayhurst of Mill Village; his son, Allen Proper of Union City; and his sister, Dana Burwell and her companion, Jeremy Welsch of Waterford. Darin was also the proud brother of Daniel J. Burwell and his wife, Stephanie of Erie, Dustin Burwell and his wife, Vickie of Waterford, and Michael Bayhurst and his wife, Tiffany of Mill Village. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who will miss him dearly.
Darin was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Burwell, I; his stepfather, David Graham; and his beloved grandparents, Bert and Martha Proper, and Mervin and Shirley Burwell.
A celebration of Darin’s life will be announced at a later date, and we invite all who knew him to join us in reflecting on his warm spirit and joyous moments. He will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery in Union City.

I haven’t talked to you since high school other then running into a few times here and there. That makes me incredibly sad. We were so close in high school always writing notes back and forth asking about girl advice and vice versa. You were one of my favorite parts of theatre class. You are such a beautiful person with a beautiful soul and I’m sad you were taken so soon. Rest easy my old friend🩵
