Danny R. Rugar, 74, of Union City, passed away, Friday, September 29, 2023 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie. He was born on April 3, 1949 in Union City, a son of Robert Rugar and Wilma Bennett Rugar. He married Barbara Potts. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2023.
He was a graduate of Union City High School and was employed with Composiflex, Inc.
Danny was a longtime member of the Union City Moose Club and he enjoyed fishing, spending time out on the lake, and watching the Erie Otters.
He is survived by his daughter, Teri Lyn McChesney of North East; a son, Todd D. McChesney of Erie; five grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Brown.
In addition to his wife; he was preceded in death by his parents.
Private burial will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Union City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Danny's memory to the Union City Moose Lodge, 3 Perry Street, Union City, Pennsylvania 16438.

Rest In Peace, Uncle Danny. I will miss your smile, laugh, and great sense of humor. I’ll never forget how you fondly called me “kid” even in my 50s. I’ll miss teasing you about the Browns and your ongoing jokes about how many times you rebuilt Dad’s Mustang due to my teenage driving accidents. You were an awesome uncle and you took such great care of Aunt Barb. I know she’s happy to have you by her side once again. I will be forever grateful for how you helped Dann and I out when we were up there and I will cherish my memories of you always! I love you!! 😢
