Daniel Joe Greathouse, Sr., 69, of Union City, passed away, Sunday, April 7, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 2, 1955 in Union City a son of Floyd Nester Greathouse and Claudious May Bromley Greathouse. He married Bonnie S. Blankfield on June 2, 1973.
He was a 1972 graduate of Townville High School and worked at General Electric for 38 years prior to retirement.
Daniel was a member of Mount Pleasant Chapel, National Rifle Association, a sponsor of Hunt of a Lifetime, Union City Moose Club, a lifetime supporter of Saint Jude Children's Hospital, and a 21 year Little League Coach.
He was very involved with every aspect of his families life: coaching sports, family vacations, fishing with his brothers, and supporting all of his family's events and activities. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Daniel enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, classic cars, music (which was always playing everywhere he was), time alone on his 56 acres, and was known for his love of Dodge automobiles.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Bonnie Greathouse of Union City; two daughters, Brandy Dorfmeister and her husband Seth of Fairview and Chrystal Miller and her husband Wesley of Centerville; a son, Travis Greathouse and his wife Cydnee of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kirsten Greathouse and her husband Malik Mosley, Brycen Dorfmeister, Isabella Dorfmeister, and Garrett Miller; great grandchildren, Sophia, Sienna, Sariya, Malakai Mosley; sisters, Eleanor Burger and her husband Ralph of Cambridge Springs and Darlene Snyder and her husband Audie, Sr. of Cambridge Springs; a brother, Jeffrey Greathouse, Sr. of Centerville; a nephew, Kevin Greathouse of Centerville; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel Greathouse, Jr.; three brothers, Floyd Herbert Greathouse, Garry Greathouse, and Larry Greathouse.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Thursday, April 11th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Union City Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 2 Downman Street, Union City. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church with Pastor Dave Nolan of Mount Pleasant Chapel, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Daniel's memory to Saint Jude Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org) or a memorial tree may be donated to be planted on Daniel's land. Tree's may be dropped off or sent to 24 O'Dell Street, Union City.

Sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. He was a good friend of my husband jim snyder. Him and curt sammons worked with my husband at ge. Your daughter brandy was my daughters coach. Prayers for all.
