Creta C. Smith Creta C. Smith, 89, of 106 Smitty's Crossing, Franklin, died at 10:15 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 at Sugar Creek Station. Born August 31, 1920 in Rouseville, PA, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Edna McDaniel Campbell. Creta was the Supervisor of Food Services for Valley Grove School District and retired in 1979 after eighteen years of work. Creta was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Rocky Grove. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She was married on December 31, 1941 to Joseph L. Smith who preceded her in death on April 30, 1996. Creta is survived by her son Larry L. Smith and his wife, Gitte of Naples, Florida; her daughter, Jean B. Sloss and her husband Dale of Franklin; three grandchildren, Anthony Sloss and his wife, Nichole of Franklin, Joseph Sloss and his wife, Jonelle of Franklin, and Mark Sloss and his girlfriend, Tracy Lafferty of Mercersburg, PA; and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Creta was preceded in death by a daughter, R. Jane Smith; four brothers, William, Wade, Norman, and Harold Campbell; and an infant sister, Johanna Ruth Campbell. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Bobbi Nelson, pastor of the Kennerdell Church of God, presiding. Interment will follow in Rynd Farm Cemetery.
