Connie Oakes, 70, of Rouseville passed away on November 03, at 11:05 a.m. at her residence following a courageous battle with lung and heart disease. Born July 08, 1942 in Franklin, PA, Connie was the daughter of the late Henry and Ruth (Johnson) Kightlinger. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was married to Clyde E. Oakes on January 16, 1976, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2005. Connie retired from Polk Center in 2002, after working there as a Resident Service Aide for more than 25 years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Oil City. Connie enjoyed bingo, camping, fishing, traveling and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She will always be remembered for the love and joy she gave to others. Connie is survived by her children, Keith Kightlinger and his wife, Melanie, of Utah, Tina Prestipino and Kelly Dunkle, both of Rouseville, Rhonda Montgomery and her husband, Robert, of Titusville, Ronald Sharrer and his wife, Tammy of Oil City, and Everett L. Oakes and his wife, Sandy, of Hadley. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Connie was preceded in death by her sisters, Jackie McCarty, Kimberly King and Nancy Deal; her brother, William Kightlinger; her granddaughter, Angel Sharrer; and her stepfather, Hays Adams. Family and friends of Connie will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Tuesday, November 6, from 2-4 and 7 - 9 p.m.. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7 at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Kightlinger, nephew, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - 505 North Parkway, Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103 and/or the Visiting Nurses Foundation - 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin PA 16323.
