Connie E. Wood, 82, of Franklin passed away at Sugar Creek Care Center on May 12, 2026.
Born in Franklin on July 1, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Anita (Henninger) Ghering.
She was a graduate of Franklin High School.
On October 26, 1963, she married the love of her life, Kenneth D. Wood. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2003.
She worked as a customer service representative at Chicago Pneumatic Tool eventually retiring after 27 years. Then she worked in the shipping and packaging department at Miller Equipment.
She was a devoted member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Franklin.
Connie had a passion for horses that started in her younger years when she started showing and in the Pennsylvania Amateur Horseman’s Association. Her love of horses didn’t end there, for almost 50 years, she was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and was recognized nationally as a well known quarter horse breeder for more than 43 years of consecutively breeding each year. She was the proudest supporter when her son showed horses in his younger years.
She also showed her Herford cattle at the local fairs and was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Willard Wood and his wife, Christina, of Polk; her only and favorite grandson, Ryan Wood of Polk; and her nephews John Ghering and his wife, Holly, of Franklin and Don Ghering of Franklin.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Chester Ghering.

I always had the best times with you and your family. Connie was one of the strongest women I have known.
Will , so sorry for your loss. Connie was a great person, I loved going to the farm with the horses and snowmobiles. Always enjoyed the bailing hay and enjoying a beer. She will be missed. Mae, Muffy.
Bobby & I are so sorry we cannot be there. But, you and family, will be in our thoughts and prayers.
