Clyde E. Baker, Sr., 62 of 1451 Mercer Road, Franklin, a retired employee of the City of Franklin, died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in UPMC Northwest of Seneca. He was born April 4, 1947, in Franklin, a son of Frank and Amy Kelly Baker. Mr. Baker retired in April 2007 as a supervisor for the City of Franklin Water Department. He had 41 years of service and enjoyed not only working for the city but also working with the city's other employees. He was a member of The Galloway United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing and shopping. He was married to the former Linda McElhaney on Sept. 11, 1965, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Clyde E. Baker, Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Franklin and Daniel K. Baker and his wife, Pamela of Montevallo, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Tabitha N. Calloway and her husband, William of Edon, Ohio, Faith D. Baker of Edon, Ohio, Kaitlyn A. Baker of Titusville, Gabrielle E. Baker of Montevallo, Savannah R. Baker of Montevallo, Lisa M. Rader and her husband Aaron, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Brittany L. Baker of Franklin; and six great-grandchildren, Madison L. Rader, Baylei C. Rader, and Kendra M. Rader, all of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and William D. Calloway, Laura K. Calloway, and Andrew M. Calloway all of Edon, Ohio. Also surviving are one sister, Ann M. "Sis" Burkett and her husband, John of Franklin; and two brothers, Cecil "Ed" Baker of Cochranton and Louis Baker and his wife, Peg, of Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Neisha M. Baker; and a brother, Clifford Baker. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. of 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in The Galloway United Methodist Church with Dr. John W. Seth, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
