Rev Claude Eugene Hunsberger, a faithful minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, entered into the presence of his heavenly Father on January 16, 2025 at the age of 92. He was residing at the home of his daughter in Beaver Falls PA.
Claude, the youngest of four children, was born March 18,1932 in Williamsville NY to Rev Ivan and Elizabeth(Betty) Hunsberger.
He graduated from Fosdick-Masten High School in Buffalo NY. He earned his BS degree from Houghton College in Houghton NY, and his MDiv from Evangelical Theological Seminary in Naperville IL. He was ordained in 1963 by the Evangelical United Brethren, that would later merge with the Methodist to become the United Methodist.
He served with the US army during the Korean Conflict in Yokohama Japan.God graciously gave him opportunity there to be part of the engineering school and to sing and minister with the Yokohama Chapel.
He worked for a few years at the Cyclops steel mill in Titusville PA before he married his beautiful wife of 66 years, Emma Johnson on June 20, 1958. Emma was his joy. She gave him a photo of herself when they were dating and it never left his wallet for all of his days. They were a great team. Together they would serve four charges during his pastorate:Swain/Grove in NY, Malta United Brethren in Ill, Brown Hill/Mackey Hill EUB in Cambridge Springs PA, and First United Methodist in DuBois PA. ย Every place they served would hold lifelong memories of God’s faithfulness to them and things He had done in their midst.
It didn’t matter what the day was like, Claude always had a song. He loved to sing with Emma. He loved to lead congregational singing. He loved to sing with his family. Their home was always filled with songs, hymns, and spiritual songs. ย If he wasn’t singing, he was whistling (which always made him easy to locate in a store).
Claude had the gift of being able to fix anything. It didn’t matter if it was a car, appliance, furniture, toy, jewelry,or anything else. If it was broken, he could fix it. If he didn’t have a part he needed, he would find a way to make one.
Camp Findley at Findley Lake NY was significant in Claude’s life. He and Emma spent many years in various roles of leadership(counselors, directors, special music, board members, etc) at the camp and its yearly Bible Conference. Not only was it formative in his own childhood faith, but they purchased a cottage there that has provided many family memories and opportunities for faith to grow in the generations to follow.
Claude’s heart was always to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ known to anyone he met. Claude’s faith was genuine and authentic. He led his home with wisdom. His children highly respected him and will miss being able to solicit his advice. He spent his life trusting and obeying the Lord Jesus he proclaimed. He longed for everyone he met to know the hope and saving Grace he had found in Jesus. Even after he retired, he was a faithful example in caring for the people within his reach and always pointing them to Jesus.
He is survived by his wife, Emma, and their children, Tom(Kathy) Hunsberger of Union City PA, Steve(Darla) Hunsberger of DuBois PA, Brian(Monica) Hunsberger of DuBois PA, Betty(Dan) Muir of Beaver Falls PA, Patti(John) Lemke of Lansing MI, 12 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled for a later time.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry PA.
Please take a moment to share a memory or condolence with the family on Claude’s Book of Memories online at www.WarrenGlennFH.com.
Arrangements are in the care of Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62 S. Main Street, Union City.

God used him to change my life and our family’s direction. ๐ I know he has many jewels in the crown ๐ that he will lay at Jesus’s feet.
I remember this night!(As I’m sure he would). There’s not much greater in this life than witnessing Jesus transform a life. ๐
Thank you

Thank you
We were sorry to learn about Claude’s passing. We knew them from the Treasure Lake Church in DuBois. We always enjoyed seeing them every Sunday and they were missed when they moved to Beaver falls. Fortunately Brian has been able to keep us abreast of their activities and how they were doing. Our sincere sympathy and condolences to all of the family
