Chester Reck

Chester Reck, age 69 of Oil City, died Saturday, October 26, 2024 at his residence.

Born on November 14, 1954 he was a son of Louis and Blanche Brzesinski Reck.

On April 30, 1994 Chester married the former Michelle Burkett.

After graduating from Chartiers-Houston High School, Chester went on to Clarion College. He was a standout in track and field and had set the shot put record in both high school and college. After College, he began his business career as part owner of the Stanchion Bar in Oil City and continued by starting Reck Construction in 1993 to the present.

Mr. Reck enjoyed golfing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.

Chester was larger than life.

Surviving are his wife, Michelle Reck; two daughters, McKenzie Daugharthy and husband Erik of Russell, PA, Jessica LaVerde and significant other Eric Malena of Edinboro; a son; Travis Schiffer and wife Kaitlyn of Franklin; five grandchildren, Macy LaVerde, Rylynn Schiffer, Joey Schiffer, Crew Schiffer, Briggs Daugharthy; a brother, Louis Reck, Jr. and wife Pam of Charlottesville, VA; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Burkett of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, James Burkett.

Friends will be received from 3 pm to 8 pm Wednesday at the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday at The Wanango Country Club with Matthew LaVerde officiating. Private interment will be made in St. Patrick Cemetery, Franklin.

Chester’s wish is to express a sincere thank you to all his friends, family and those who have showed their
support over the past few months. Special thanks to Bruce, Bonnie, JC, Donna, Mark, Sue, Dave and Bev for their loving support.

When you worked with him on a project with Reck Construction, any obstacles that came up were always met with a smile and the words, “no problem”. What a good man. He will be sorely missed.

  11. Chester was larger than life. His smile lit up the room. He always had a twinkle in his eyes like Santa Claus. He was a wonderful soul with a heart of gold. We enjoyed his humor and he gave us lots of laughs. We enjoyed hearing stories from him and Bruce about their years of friendship. Chester and Bruce are two of our favorite customers. You will be missed always Chester but never forgotten. It was our honor to know you. Rest easy sir and Godspeed.   12. Chester was an inspiration! He lived life well despite his cancer. It was my honor to be his nurse for over 10 years. I will always remember him.

  17. Chester was an original member of our Clarion University fraternity. Alpha Sigma Chi. As a pledge we had to do something for each brother. Chester had us clean his bar. We enjoyed the event when Chester made a meal and provided refreshments .☮️🙏
