Charles “Bob” Robert Steetle, II, 93, of Utica passed away on December 24, 2024 at home with his family at his side.
Born on July 27, 1931 in Indiana, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles Robert and Elizabeth (Lydic) Steetle, Sr.
On November 15, 1952, he married the former Alice Lorraine Heffernan. They were married for 57 years before her passing on August 1, 2009.
Bob was a man of many talents who could fix just about anything. He enjoyed tinkering with small engines and built a go cart. In his younger years, he was the state runner up wrestling champion in high school and was the National Recurve Champion with the trophies to show. As a lifetime member of the Utica Volunteer Fire Department, he was not only a firefighter but also an EMT and taught CPR classes.
He loved to slow dance with his daughters, mostly with his wife. He was a hard worker on his farm raising cows, pigs, and ponies but was passionate about his large vegetable garden.
Bob tried to do his best at everything he could do. He was the number one person to get help fixing something and he would help his community the best way he knew how.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Charles R. Steetle, III, Robin Eakin, Brice A. Steetle, Scott A. Steetle, all of Utica, Keith O. Steetle and his wife, Teresa, of Polk, Karen Steetle of Utica, Todd M. Steetle and his special friend, Kathy Watson of Utica; his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and his great great grandchildren; and his sister Regina Tate of North Tonawanda, NY.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth Reed; his granddaughter, his great grandson, his great-granddaughter, his brother, and his 3 sisters.
Family will receive guests at the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Monday, December 30th from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services for Bob will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 31st at 11 am with Pastor Tina Kaye, pastor of Utica Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Bob will be laid to rest next to his wife at Millcreek Cemetery, Utica where military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
A special thanks goes to his daughter Karen for the wonderful care she gave over the years.

Bob will definitely be missed around town. Your dad was a kind caring man that I knew while I was growing up over the years. You all have my deepest sympathy and prayers 🙏 ❤️.

Rip Bob
Grandpa was one of the greatest men I’ve ever known. He was always a soft place to land and a helping hand to everyone he met. Always accepting, of everyone, just how they were. He always took such good care of grandma, and set the stamdard for how we should all act. He was always getting us kids hands dirty, and showing us that good things take hard work but he always made time for the fun stuff too. Family Independence days, husking corn, picking strawberries, family Christmases, watching him see aunt Dorothy for the first time in a long while, and just an infinite amount of other things will be fond memories that I cherish forever. Grandpa will be greatly missed, but he’s right where he has been longing to be, with grandma, and he will forever live through the things he taught us, that we will teach our children, that they will teach theirs.
My condolences to the family
