Charles E. Gundy Wyant, 82, of Briarwood Drive, Franklin, passed away surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness, at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5th, at Sugarcreek Station. Born April 26, 1930 in Utica, Charles was the son of the late John Clark and Ina Mae Long Wyant. On February 23, 1951, he married his wife of 61 years, the former Earlene J. Rice, who survives. Gundy was a Peacetime Navy Veteran. He worked as a laborer for more than 30 years with the Laborers Union #323 of Butler prior to his retirement. Gundy was a member of Franklin Moose Lodge #83, a life member of V.F.W. Jesse Greer Post #411, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Gundy is survived by his five children, John E. Wyant and his wife, Sue, of Cypress, Texas, Charles M. Wyant of Titusville, Lloyd E. Wyant and his wife, Cindy, of Seneca, Linda D. Perry and her husband, Greg, of Oil City, and Debra S. Zaccari and her husband, Tony, of Franklin. Additionally, Gundy is survived by his brother, Richard Dick Wyant of Everett, Washington and his sister, Marge Lowrie, of Franklin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, John C. Wyant, and his wife, Katie, of South Park, PA, Cassandra L. Wyant of Cypress, TX, Matthew S. Kerlin of Greensboro, NC, Steven C. Kerlin and his wife, Betsy, of New Richmond, OH, Michelle Blum of Franklin, Randy E. Wyant and David E. Wyant, both of Oil City, and Angela C. Rankin and her husband, Jeremy, Alicia M. Zaccari and Ashley E. Zaccari, all of Franklin; his great-grandchildren, Jacob Erwin, Jamie L. Blum, Jennifer L. Blum, Jadyn M. Blum, Tyler R. Wyant, Lynea E. Wyant, Bailey S. Wyant, Nataley M. Rankin, Nevaeh L. Rankin, and Acura N. Kerlin. In addition to his parents, Gundy was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, William A. Wyant, Lemuel L. Wyant, and John C. Wyant; his 3 sisters, Mary Jane Welton, Sarah M. Hollabaugh, and Elsie K. Greathouse; and his granddaughter, Nicole Kerlin. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Friday, December 7 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 8 with Tom Marstellar of Congress Hill Church of God, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will be in Cooperstown Cemetery. I know this experience will change you forever it changed me. I loss my father last year at 82 years of age.
