Carolyn H. Laemmer, 78, of 845 Meadville Pike, Franklin, died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at The Caring Place in Franklin. Born Sept. 24, 1930, in Franklin, she was a daughter of Clifford Augustus Hexamer and Florence Strickenberg. Mrs. Laemmer attended Franklin Business College. Mrs. Laemmer was a homemaker. She had worked at Franklin Hospital on the switchboard, in admissions, and discharges, and also worked at General Manifold and Joy. She was a secretary at First Presbyterian Church and was also a substitute teacher. Mrs. Laemmer sang in the Vernard choir that toured the country by train and bus and sang in the Red Barn Review, a Civic production, and also sang and performed solos at different churches. She directed the adult, youth and children's choirs at Rocky Grove Presbyterian Church, where she was a member and served as a church elder for a term. She was also a Sunday school superintendant. She enjoyed making beaded jewelry, knitting, crafts, needlework, reading, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She loved playing and listening to music. She was married on April 13, 1962, to Kurt J. Laemmer Sr., who survives. Survivors also include two children, Rolf Laemmer and his wife, Diane, of Franklin, and Kurt J. Laemmer Jr. of Bradford; two grandchildren, Kristen Laemmer and Juliah Laemmer, both of Bradford; and a sister, Lorraine Green and her husband, Conrad, of Orr's Island, Maine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Ellen Hexamer. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Linda L. Deeter of The Caring Place officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church.
