Betty V. Chapman
October 7, 1928 ~ March 28, 2022
Born in: Erie, Pennsylvania
Betty V. (Sherman) Chapman, age 93 died Monday, March 28th, 2022 at Walnut Creek Nursing
Home. Betty was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on October 7th, 1928 a daughter of the late Neil and Rhea
(Robinson) Sherman.
She was the last surviving sibling from her family. She grew up on a farm in Union City where she met her future husband, who lived just down the road, Frederick E. Chapman. They were married on Easter Sunday March 28th, 1948, and went on to raise four children.
She was able to shoot her kids that look like all mom's have, that would stop you in
your tracks and it was surely followed by "wait until your father comes home."
Betty had many hobbies, but the one she loved the most was taking care of, and being a wonderful mother to her four children. Other hobbies included gardening, specifically flowers, where she had several flower beds around her home, along with several indoor plants. She loved canning in the fall
where she would can several quarts of vegetables and many different fruits and jams. She
loved to cook and bake and did so often. The holidays were her favorite time, and she took
great pleasure in the many dishes that she would lovingly prepare, and if you had the pleasure
of helping her make fudge, you more than likely heard her say more than once don't stop
stirring no matter how bad your arms felt.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 53 years, Frederick Chapman, and her daughter Gloria. Also, her brothers, Lawrence, Theodore (Ted), Basil (Pete), and Kenneth, along with sisters Roxie (Sherman) Yochim, and Mary (Sherman) Melnick.
She is survived by her children Yvonne (Chapman) Eastman, Gary Chapman (Beth), and Clinton Chapman (Rosemary), grandchildren Shadd Eastman (Bobbi), Larah Eastman, and Adam Chapman (Tracey), great grandchildren Marlee, Aria, Sawyer, and Linley, along with several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday, April 1st from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62 S. Main Street, Union City. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd from 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Lea Guiney, officiating.
She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.
