MEADVILLE " Betty J. Hobson, 91, formerly of 715 Pine St., Meadville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Meadville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born Oct. 14, 1919, in Meadville, she was the daughter of Harry Kightlinger and Grace Nageotte Kightlinger. She married John (Jack) Hobson on July 13, 1948; he preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1973. She was a 1936 graduate of Meadville High School. She was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church and volunteered there for numerous activities. She was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society and St. Brigid 55 Plus Club. Before she was married, she worked at the old Meadville High School on the Diamond and also at Ketcham Builder and Supply. She enjoyed couponing and rebating. She was like a second mother to her nephews, Jon and Mike Ketcham, after the passing of their mother, Shirley, when they were young. She worked the polls in the City of Meadville during elections. Survivors include a niece, Linda Higby and her husband, Doug, of Meadville; nephews, Jon Ketcham and his wife, Lisa, of Meadville, Mike Ketcham of Meadville, Gary Ketcham of Erie, Richard Ketcham and his wife, Stacy, of Erie, James Johnston and his wife, Gail, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Robert Johnston and his wife, Jacque, of Greensburg; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Kightlinger; her mother, Grace Nageotte Kightlinger; her husband, John (Jack) Hobson; two sisters, Shirley Ketcham and Rebie Johnston; and a brother, Floyd Kightlinger. Calling hours are today from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville, with a prayer vigil service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Father Mark O’Hern of St. Brigid Catholic Church as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., or The Arc of Crawford County Inc., 222 Chestnut St., both of Meadville, Pa. 16335.
