CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS - Bernice Nancy English, 89, of 26740 Penny Road, Cambridge Springs, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Meadville Medical Canter.Born in Phillipsburg July 30, 1919, she was a daughter of Elmer and Miriam Stine. Her husbands, Dwight Schnars, Frank Poldiak and Dean English, all preceded her in death.In her early years she worked for Lord Manufacturing for 17 years. She owned Bernice Restaurant and Pizza on Water Street in Meadville and the Pizza Place in Edinboro. Later in life she was a home health care caregiver and worked up until she was 78 years old.She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and playing cards. She loved her dogs, Cody and Miles, and loved flowers.She attended First Assembly of God in Erie.Survivors include four children, Rose Marie McIntyre and her husband, Mack, of Chula Vista, Calif., Nancy Jenkin and her husband, Paul, of Cambridge Springs, Frank Poldiak of South Carolina and Francine Flatley of Spartansburg; two brothers, Earl Stine and his wife, Ann, of Sandy Ridge, and George Stine and his wife, Tilly, of New Liberty; 14 grandchildren, Bobby Leuschen, Steven Leuschen, Lori Leuschen, Jamie Bell, Chelsea Izbinski, Angela Bell, Adrienne Poldiak, Anius Poldiak, Donnie Brandenburg, Shelly Brandenburg, Ronda Wagner, Maria Sampson, Marcie Ryhal and Danny Schnars; 20 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son, Dwight Foster (Butch) Schnars; her parents; a grandchild, Donna Leuschen; a sister, Della Loesch; and four brothers, Walter, James, Leroy and Donald Stine.Calling hour will be Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Roofner-Collins Funeral Home Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.The funeral will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Phillip P. Thomas of Bible Baptist Church officiating.Burial will be in Venango Cemetery.
