Barry L. Karns, 63, of Franklin passed away on November 16, 2018 at the Meadville Medical Center.Born on September 4th, 1955in Franklin, he was the son of Charles W. and Hazel I. (Barnicle) Karns who survives.He was a 1973 graduate of Franklin Area High School then furthered his education at Clarion College, graduating in 1977.Barry lived in Salt Lake City, UT for many years returning to Franklin 20 years ago.Barry worked in the office at the Venango Area Riding for the Handicapped Association.In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Deborah Lyle and her husband, David, of Centerville; his nephew Michael Lyle of Durham, NC; his niece , Christine Slagle and her husband, Justin, of Jamestown, NY; and his many close friends.Barry was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles.Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin has been entrusted with arrangements.To send cards, online condolences and for general information, friends and family are invited to visit www.gardinierfuneralhome.com

My sincere sympathy to the Karns family. Barry was a wonderful and caring person, with a sharp whit, warm grin and big heart. He was a great neighbor, classmate, teammate, and a true life friend. He will be missed by many who are better for having known him.
Thoughts and prayers to the Karns family. Just saw Barry at our recent class reunion. He was so full of life as we all had come to know him. I am hopeful that with time all your happy memories will be replace your grief.
