Barbara L. Hovis Barbara L. Hovis, 76, of Polk, passed away at her residence at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011. Born in Oil City on June 27, 1935, Barbara was the daughter of the late Edwin and Florence Miller McFetridge. She was married January 27, 1956 to Clair Hovis and he survives. Barbara retired from Polk Center in 1994 after working there for 25 years as Head Custodian. She was a member of Polk United Methodist Church and also attended Trilby United Methodist Church in Dade City, Florida. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, flower gardening, quilting and crafting. She especially cherished all the times she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her five sons, Edwin C. Hovis and his wife, Lupita, of Adairsville, Georgia, Randy L. Hovis of Hawaii, Jeffrey L. Hovis of Franklin, Danny J. Hovis of Shannon, Georgia, and Lanny J. Hovis and his wife, Roberta, of Franklin; and her daughter, Wanda R. Campbell and her husband, Francis, of Clarion. She is additionally survived by her fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her grandson, T.J. Hovis. Family and friends of Barbara will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services for Barbara will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 12 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Lea Guiney, pastor of Polk United Methodist Church, officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Polk United Methodist Church.
