Barbara Engles, 61, of Oil City, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, January 10th at 5:30 a.m. following a sudden illness.Born December 21, 1955 in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Richard B. and Winifred Mohnkern McCracken. She married Harry J. Engles on March 2, 1974, and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2011.Barb was a homemaker and cherished the times she spent with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, her pets, and shopping with her daughter.She is survived by her son, Richard Engles and his wife, Amanda, of Seneca; her daughter, LeAnn Engles and her fiance, Larry Clark, of Summerville, South Carolina; and her grandchildren, Emilee Engles of Seneca and Jayce Becoate of Summerville, South Carolina. She is also survived by her sisters, Sue Eisenklam and her husband, Peter, of Mesa, Arizona, and Kathy Farmer of Anchorage, Alaska. In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was preceded in death by her two sisters, Diane Bustard and Debbie Licht, and her step-mother, Dolores McCracken.Family and friends of Barb will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Friday, January 13th from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, January 14th at 11 a.m. with Dennis Jones, retired hospice chaplain, officiating. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Barb's memory to The Venango County Humane Society - PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301 and/or the Venango County Visiting Nurses Foundation - 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin PA 16323.To send flowers, cards, online condolences, or for further information, friends are invited to visit www.gardinierfuneralhome.com.

As I sit here stumped on what to say because I am not very good at this and I know that there are no words that will take your pain away, there are a few things that I want you to know. I looked at your mom as the perfect mom and grandma. I’m sure she was an inspiring wife as well. You as well were such a great daughter to her Leann, so caring and so loving. Secondly, I want you to remember the memories can never be lost, and you two sure have a lot of special ones to cherish. My deepest sympathy goes out to you, Jayce and family. I will always be here. I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. No doubt Barbara will be missed. I hope you are able to find comfort from the hope for the future found in the Bible. Revelation 21:4 says “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

We are so sorry for your loss. Barb was such a unique lady and a wonderful neighbor. I just cannot imagine going to Corey’s and not seeing her. I know she is with the love of her life now and that in itself is comforting. I know it will be hard to go on without her, but she raised two strong children and I know she will be your guardian angel looking down and watching her families enjoying life.
