Barbara Avolio, 84, of 3655 State Route 417 ,Oakland died at 1:15 PM ,Thursday, September 12, 2013 at her residence. Born August 15, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA, Barbara was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Sacara) Gollick. On September 18, 1948 She married Anthony G. Avolio, Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Franklin. For more than 25 years she was a member of the Venango Fire Police, the Oakland Township Volunteer Fire Department, and the Oakland Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was very active in the Senior Olympics at Shippensburg University She will be greatly missed by both her family and her many friends. Barbara is survived by her son, Anthony G, Avolio, Jr. and his wife, Paula, of Franklin; her sister, Helen Conroy of Honolulu, Hawaii; her grandchildren, Denny Harbaugh and his wife, Carrie of Pittsburgh, Michael Harbaugh and his wife, Bonnie, of Pittsburgh, Nicki Avolio of Franklin, and Cadee Avolio of Franklin; her great-grandchildren, Alissa, Carly, and Anthony Harbaugh all of Pittsburgh; and her best friend Arlene Exley of Franklin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her daughter, Alexis Harbaugh. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Sunday, September 15th, 2013, from 3:00PM - 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 16th, 2013 at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., with Deacon Walter Jones of St. Patrick Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Garden. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Oakland Township Volunteer Fire Department, Dempseytown Road, Oil City, PA 16301.
