To Barb’s Family,
I am so sorry that you have lost your sister and Mother. Barb and I were the same age, and classmates at St. Catherine’s school. We did many things together when we were in school. I remember bike-riding with her, collecting for flowers for the church before Christmas and Easter, and being in the 40 hours processions at St. Catherines. Her mother and dad were such nice people, and were glad to welcome Barb’s friends. I remember especially sitting out in their yard under that big willow tree, and drinking lemonade that her Mom had made. During the war years (WW11) her Dad worked in a building on Weber Avenue near Jared street, and we would visit him there. He always made time for us, and once I was able to get a flour sifter from for my Mom for Christmas, when there were none in the stores because all the metal went into the war effort. These were just extra and he let me buy one, (for a quarter, as I recall.)
We both wanted to be nurses, and we both did. I married a guy from Buffalo and moved to California in 1970, and so I have not been around DuBois for a long time. But my brother Jack Green still lives there, as do my sister Pat and my brother Mike. Jack told me yesterday about Barb’s death and so I wanted to express my sympathy especially to her brother, who may remember me. I will pray for Barb, and always remember her with affection.
Sincerely, Joan Green Scibetta
Bernard……I saw this in the DuBois Courier. I remember her when we were both in school. Memories of days gone by are brought up when I read obituaries in the paper of so many of our old classmates. Keeping your family in my prayers.
Loved your Mom as I cared for her at Hillside. She was a spark and an inspiration as a nurse. We laughed together about many things from the nursing profession to just plain life! She loved & praised her family!! She always reminded me of my own mom! Strong willed and busted her A** to raise her kids! Will miss her! Sorry I wasn’t there! Sincere Condolences! Dear Mary Jo and Family,
May memories of Barbara forever live in your hearts. I am so sorry for your loss.
