Audrey F. Klins, 100, of Meadville and formerly of Frenchtown, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at the Crawford
She was born on Sept. 29, 1908, in Randolph Township, Crawford County, daughter of the late Leon E. and Dora V. Schenberg Beuchat. She married Walter Klins Sept. 25, 1937, in Frenchtown. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1975.
Audrey was a graduate of Randolph High School, Class of 1927. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living graduate of Randolph High School. She received her teaching degree from Edinboro Normal College and taught at Stitzerville Elementary School, Black Ash, Wayland and Randolph East Mead schools, retiring in 1973 after 23 years of Teaching.
In the l940s and '50s, she worked as a clerk for Dobie Roae Auctions. She also served as an East Mead Township Republican Committee Woman for a period of years. She was a tax collector for East Mead Township.
She was involved in organizing the Volunteer Auxiliary for the East Mead Fire Department. She was the oldest living lifetime member of St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church in Frenchtown.
She enjoyed all needlework, especially quilt making and afghans, gardening, shopping, traveling and pigs.
Survivors include a son, Russell C. Klins and his wife, Sandy, of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Donna M. Aaron, and her husband Robert, of Meadville; four grandchildren, Rick Klins and his wife, Shelby, of Saegertown, Jack Klins and his wife, Kim, of Townville, Lori Reedy and her husband, Joel, of Ventura, Calif., and Lisa Malliard and her husband, David, of Florida; six great-grandchildren, Amber Hocking, Randy Klins, Kevin Klins, Zach Klins, Brad Klins and Dana Klins; a brother, Ray Beuchat, and his wife, Jayne, of Guys Mills; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jacobs and her husband, Clair, and Joanne Dellamedaglia and her husband, Carmen; and a brother, William Beuchat, and his wife, Violet.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St. A vigil prayer service is Tuesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, Frenchtown, with Father Dennis Veltri as Celebrant. Burial will take place in the St. Hippolyte Cemetery.
