Arthur L. McCauley, 90, of 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin, formerly of 674 Grant St., Franklin, died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Sugar Creek Station. Born Jan. 23, 1918, in Fryburg, he was a son of Arthur Louis McCauley and Grace Irene Mohr McCauley. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. McCauley was employed as a truck driver and trouble shooter for North Penn Gas Co., retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Venus. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, wood working and home repair. He was married Aug. 2, 1947, to Ruth E. Haggerty, who survives. Survivors also include six children, Arthur L. McCauley and his wife, Juanita, of Fryburg, Ethel "Sissy" Peterson and her husband, Bill, of Kennerdell, Sandra Rose and her husband, Jay, of Ocala, Fla., Charles Condon and his wife, Bonnie, of Erie, Thomas Condon and his wife, Carol, of Erie, and Robert Condon of Castro Valley, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Survivors also include a sister, Grace Proper and her husband, Gerald, of Oil City; and two brothers, Kenneth McCauley of Rouseville and Donald McCauley and his wife, Nancy, of Fryburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane McCauley in 1955; sisters, Ardel Gifford, Dorothy Sandrock and Francis Geesey; brothers, John McCauley and Gerald McCauley; grandsons, Dennis Grove and Nathan Condon; and an infant sister, Betty McCauley. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Bole, VNA Hospice chaplain, officiating. Interment will be in Venus Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Venango County Humane Society.
