Alberta Mae Orr Alberta Mae Orr, 86, of Hone Avenue, Oil City, passed away at 12:35 p.m., on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at The Caring Place. Alberta was born September 18, 1925, in New Lebanon, Pa, to the late Edward and Goldie Doutt Bowen. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Alberta worked for the Oil City School District in the 1960's as a cook; at Davis McNair in Rouseville as a machine operator; and retired from Polk Center in 1987 after working there for 20 years in the Dietary Department as a cook and Union Stewart. Mrs. Orr always played the PA Lottery Nightly number 717. She enjoyed making ceramic gifts to give to her family and friends. She was an original member of the Oil City Cycle Club and she traveled to North Carolina to visit and ride with her daughter, Sally, on her Harley Davison motorcycle. She enjoyed driving her red Geo Tracker with her daughter, Barb, to Garage and Rummage sales; dining out on Friday evenings with her son, Ed; long car rides and lemon meringue pies with her daughter, Vicki; and campfires at Henry's Bend with her son, Leonard and his wife, Vickie. Alberta had a wonderful life with her family and was always telling those who knew and met her how wonderful it was. She always had stories to share about her childhood, and her family's fondness for Hillbilly Music. Mrs. Orr is survived by her daughters, Sara "Sally" L. Snow and her husband, Mike, of Lewisburg, North Carolina, Barbara A. Mansfield, of Oil City, and Vicki A. Conn and her partner, Mary "Mimi" Hagadone, of Franklin; and her sons, Edward N. Conn and his wife, Sharon, of Reno, Pa, and Leonard E. Conn and his wife, Vickie, of Henry's Bend. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Tina A. Cassiey and her husband, Tom, of Cleveland, Ohio; Shannon Stewart of Bunn, North Carolina; Rich Mansfield of Venice, Florida; Christopher Mansfield of Oil City; Stacy L. Conn and her husband, Bryan L. George, of Reno, PA; Brandy L. Ferricks and her husband, David, of Reno, PA; Karrie A. Hazlett and her husband, Wayne, of Oil City; Kyle A. Conn of Franklin; Michael-Shannon Prahl, of Franklin; Nathaniel Conn of Oil City; and Nerissa Kulling and her husband, Christoph, of Merrimack, New Hampshire; her 19 great-grandchildren; and her 6 great-great children. Alberta is additionally survived by her special nieces and nephews, Shirley Kirwin and her husband, Larry of Franklin; H. John Greggs and his wife, Lynn, of Franklin; Tracy Bowen and his wife, Roseann, of Delaware; and Raymond Bowen and his wife, Marial, of Franklin; and her sisters-in-law, Lillian Bowen of Champion, Ohio, and Rose Bowen of Franklin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Orr was preceded in death by her grandsons, Joel Ian Conn and Todd Elliott Conn in 1978; her brothers, Leslie, Tracy, Robert and Clair Bowen; her sister, Twila Greggs and her husband, Floyd, and her sister, Cecelia Ryczko and her husband, Richard; her niece, Doris Tarr; and her pet dog, "Lady". Family and friends of Alberta will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Wednesday, December 7 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, with Dr. John Seth, pastor of Galloway United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Bell Cemetery. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the 2nd Floor Staff at The Caring Place; Community Ambulance Service; Oil City Fire and Police Departments; the ER Department at UPMC Northwest; and Dr. Roberta Kahler.
