Alan G. Smith, 52, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on May 9, 2013. Born on April 20, 1961, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Donald S. Smith, and Gayle M. Beyerl Smith, currently of Florida. Alan was the owner and CEO of Still Inc. in Chicago. He was a wonderful and giving son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by all of us who knew and loved him. In addition to his mother, Alan is survived by his two sisters, Cheri Mong, and her husband, Deac, of Franklin, and Bernadette French and her husband, Kevin, of Norwich, Ohio; his two brothers, Nicholas Smith of Pompano Beach, Florida, and Blaise Smith and his wife, Nancy, of Franklin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews; and his best friend, Ceci Shave of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his father; and his sister, Evyonne M. Confer. A private memorial service for Alan will be held at the convenience of his family. The Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin PA will be handling arrangements. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Visiting Nurses Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin PA 16323. I am very saddened to hear of Alan’s passing. We were best friends growing up in the Grove and I deeply regret the years in between that we lost contact.

Alan-I don’t know how I became lucky enough to have met you and have you as a friend. You are one of the most kind, honest, sincere, and down-to-earth persons I have ever met, and your smile and laugh lit up a room. Alan was a gifted creative person. Those of us that purchased his creative works have a constant reminder of his God gifted creative talent in our homes and business locations.

My condolences are with the Smith family. Alan was such a unique individual bringing lots of joy to his many friends. I’m truly happy that we were able to share over 20 years of friendship. I will miss our many laughs together my friend.
